TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Tsai Ing-wen emphasized Taiwan's goal of net-zero emissions and digital transformation in her speech at the 26th members meeting of the Chinese National Association of Industry and Commerce, Taiwan (CNAIC) on Tuesday (July 4).

President Tsai also shared her views on Taiwan's industry trend in the next ten years and highlighted how the government will assist businesses to achieve that vision, especially after the pandemic affected many small and medium-sized enterprises.

"We will support businesses in Taiwan through four aspects: transformation, stable operation, increased investment, and talent retention," she said. "Additionally, we aim to assist enterprises in achieving intellectualization and low carbon emissions."

The CNAIC Chairman Thomas T.L. Wu also expressed optimism about Taiwan's economic recovery in the near future regarding the tech industry, even though Taiwan has undergone nine months of decline in exports.

"I am optimistic about the recovery of the tech sector's inventory to a certain level, although traditional industries might take a bit more time." Wu said. "Based on the current circumstances, I anticipate a better performance in the second half of the year compared to the past six months."
