TAIPEI (TVBS News) — YouBike announced plans on Thursday (July 13) to hire more paid part-time bike dispatchers and sanitation workers as users of the public bike-sharing system in Taipei City have reported empty bike racks or no available spaces to return the bikes.

YouBike, in collaboration with the Department of Transportation, Taipei City Government, will host a recruitment fair on July 21, welcoming retirees and part-time workers to apply for the job openings. The aim is to enhance the service provided to Taipei citizens.

The company stated that the hourly pay will range from NT$180 to NT$185, including labor insurance, health insurance, and a labor retirement pension. Applicants are required to have a motorcycle license and their motorcycle. The company will sponsor gas expenses at NT$10 per hour.

Chuang Po-chin, the Operation Director of the North District at YouBike, emphasized that there is no limit to the number of positions available for hire, as the turnover rate for YouBike employees has remained between 7% and 8%.

YouBike Company revealed that there are 1,288 YouBike stations spread across Taipei, making it challenging for its 300 employees to manage the workload while ensuring a sufficient number of bikes are available at high-demand stations. Enough space is open for users to park their bikes.

The company reminded job seekers to exercise caution regarding potential scams on social media related to job openings, as the company will not request any deposits or offer remote work.
