DPP leaders brave sweltering heat in style at party rally

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) held its National Convention on Sunday (July 16), with key figures including DPP Chairman Lai Ching-te, President Tsai Ing-wen, and Premier Chen Chien-jen in attendance. 

Despite the 35-degree Celsius heat, they wore baseball jackets designed by Lai Ching-te's campaign team to show support for the DPP's regional legislative candidate nominees.

The event aimed to garner momentum and support for the party's representatives and their proposed policies, showcasing the unity and strength of the ruling party. 

In orchestrating the rally, Lai Ching-te addressed the DPP's regional legislative candidate nominees, articulating the need for them to "manage the country's direction and build a better Taiwan."

Dressed in baseball jackets with the "Team Taiwan" logo printed on their back, President Tsai Ing-wen and Premier Chen Chien-jen demonstrated their support for Lai Ching-te's nominees and their commitment to promoting DPP's core ideas.

The high-profile event drew a significant level of public attention amid the intensifying political climate in Taiwan. There was a palpable sense of unity within the DPP as its leaders and aspiring candidates gathered to share their vision for their country.
