TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan Vice President Lai Ching-te visited the Taiwan-based JET Optoelectronics (JET Opto), one of the top makers of in-vehicle infotainment systems (IVI systems), on Tuesday (July 18).

In his remarks, Lai emphasized the government's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, stressing that "Driving green growth and tackling climate change are crucial."

He added, "Once we reach the net-zero goal in 2050, Taiwan will witness the emergence of new and innovative green energy industries that will keep our industry and economy thriving."

Lai also encouraged Taiwanese companies based overseas to return and invest in Taiwan. Despite facing significant challenges from external geopolitical conflicts and internal transformations related to digitization and zero carbon emissions, he expressed optimism, stating, "Amidst the changing world landscape, Taiwan has the opportunity to succeed."

Highlighting the island nation's historical background, the ruling DPP presidential candidate emphasized the significant meaning and potential for Taiwan to seize opportunities in the technological and industrial fields amid the changing global scene.
