NANTOU (TVBS News) — The torrential rain brought by Typhoon Khanun caused severe damage in Ren'ai Township, Nantou County, leading to landslides, power outages, and flooding. The disater created significant challenges for the residents, with some stranded due to the damages.

Fire departments from all across Taiwan have rushed to Nantou to aid in disaster relief efforts, and some residents are currently being relocated to safer areas. Due to the severity of the disaster, classes and businesses in Ren'ai Township of Nantou County have been suspended for five consecutive days starting last Friday (Aug.4).

 

According to the Nantou County government, although work will resume in Ren'ai Township on Wednesday (Aug. 9), schools will remain closed. The authorities are working hard to restore normalcy and ensure the safety of residents amid the disaster recovery efforts. Power restoration is a priority, and the situation could improve soon.
