TAIPEI (TVBS News) — On Monday morning (Aug. 28), Foxconn Founder Terry Gou denied any influence from China during a Q&A session following his announcement of his candidacy for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

Gou's running as an independent has added complexity to the political landscape of the 2024 race.

During the session with the media, foreign reporters asked Gou about the potential influence Mainland China could exert on him due to Foxconn's significant investment in the region.

In response, Gou emphasized that he owns no assets in China, including land or real estate.

Responding to Reuters, Goui suggested that he would be willing to relinquish his personal property if it could guarantee no military aggression from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) toward Taiwan. Taking a firm stance, Gou reiterated that he is not under the control of the CCP.

Gou asserted that there were no deals with any Mainland-based companies regarding his independent candidacy.

He concluded with a question asking which global investment entities would dare to invest in China if the Chinese government decided to confiscate Foxconn's assets.
