TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Typhoon Haikui made its second landfall in Taiwan at 4 a.m. on Monday (Sept. 4) and weakened to a mild typhoon by 5 a.m.

The center of Haikui departed from Kaohsiung's Ziguan District on Sunday (Sept. 3) but made a second landing at 4 a.m. in Kaohsiung's Zuoying District on Monday. This second landfall indicates that its impact will linger.

Currently, Haikui is persistently hovering along the coastline of Kaohsiung and Tainan, slowly moving in a west-northwest direction.

Eastern and southwestern regions are expected to remain under the threat of the storm until tonight. Caution is advised for torrential rain and strong gusts.

Penghu and Kinmen face the possibility of high tides. It is advisable to avoid venturing into coastal areas.

Although Typhoon Haikui is moving away from Taiwan, its impact lingers. From Wednesday to Friday, due to the influence of a low-pressure system, the southern and eastern regions, as well as mountainous areas across Taiwan, may continue to experience heavy rain. The public is advised to remain vigilant.
