TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's National Palace Museum (NPM) published a statement Tuesday (Sept. 12) saying that it has taken legal action against fraudulent accounts on China's social media platform, XiaoHongShu.
Since June 2023, an illicit company from Xiamen in Mainland China has been posing as NPM under the names 'Taipei National Palace Cultural Museum' and 'National Chinese Taipei Palace Boutique'.
The imposter account has been uploading posts of signature NPM treasures, such as the Jadeite Cabbage and Meat-shaped Stone, even misappropriating video content.
NPM clarified that the Xiamen firm had not received any authorization to use its name or promote itself online, thereby infringing the museum's rights.
The museum has stressed that it has not granted any business the right to use its name for commercial activities. As a result, it has embarked on legal action against such practices to protect its rights and interests.
