TAIPEI (TVBS News) — National Security Bureau Director General Tsai Ming-yen accused the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on Wednesday (Oct. 4) of working with Taiwanese PR firms to conduct opinion polls, potentially influencing Taiwan's election process.

Tsai made the comment before briefing the Foreign and Defense Committee of the Legislative Yuan on national intelligence work and the operations of the National Security Bureau.

When asked about the alleged CCP's interference in the election, Tsai did not dismiss the possibility of China waging cognitive warfare against voters, including military intimidation, economic pressure, and manipulating contentious information.

The director general emphasized the need to monitor potential collaborations between CCP and Taiwanese PR firms conducting polls before the 2024 presidential election.

Tsai remarked that the release of these polls could also affect Taiwan's electoral process, adding that the National Security Bureau is closely monitoring the CCP's multi-faceted interventions.
