TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Strong winds and rain associated with Typhoon Koinu disrupted travel plans in Taiwan on Wednesday (Oct. 4), resulting in the cancellation of seventy domestic and twenty-three international flights.

At Taipei's Songshan Airport, passengers gathered at the front desk to seek flight updates and make contingency plans for cancellations.

One traveler even expressed a preference for a canceled flight, fearing the inconvenience of being stranded on outlying islands when the typhoon makes landfall.

In response to the adverse weather conditions, the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) made schedule adjustments for select trains operating after 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, Taiwan's High Speed Rail (THSR) continued operations, with a provision for passengers unable to catch their scheduled trains to request refunds within the year.

The Maritime Port Bureau also reported significant disruptions, with 12 routes and 97 ships suspended due to the ongoing adverse weather conditions.
