LUXEMBOURG (TVBS News) — The European News Exchange (ENEX) network hosted its 30th General Assembly at the RTL headquarters in Luxembourg on Oct. 12-13, where international media gathered to share their knowledge and experience in the field.

Speaking at the opening of the international event, Adrien Wells, managing director of ENEX, expressed his enthusiasm for this milestone General assembly, stressing how "ENEX has become a globally respected and powerful agency over the past 30 years."

"The most important component of ENEX is the network, the ability to share knowledge, call in favors, and develop your own relationships under the ENEX umbrella," he said about the significance of the association of broadcasters.

As the sole media chosen in Taiwan, TVBS News attended the event for the first time since joining the network in 2021.

Dimitri Bruyas, the head of the English News Team at TVBS News, highlighted the partnership's significance, explaining how "TVBS News has worked closely with ENEX since 2021 to increase its global reach and bring more international content to Taiwanese audiences."

He also pointed out the need for reliable and independent news sources.

"Taiwan has seen a growing number of news outlets over the past 20 years, yet there is still a lack of reliable news sources, independent from the government and political biases."

In light of Taiwan's evolving political landscape and geopolitical challenges, Bruyas added that working with ENEX is an opportunity to share reliable, timely, and independent news, especially during the presidential and legislative elections. "We need to fight back against disinformation to highlight the challenges faced by Taiwanese society," he continued.

Sonja Schwetje, chair of the ENEX Board, also underlined the organization's values, saying, "It's a huge privilege to be part of an organization that values collaboration, independent journalism, and verified news."

She further noted, "ENEX believes in independent journalism in fighting disinformation, a topic that has become more relevant during the last couple of years."

The 30th General Assembly featured engaging discussions on various topics, including reporting climate change, new digital formats, news reporting in 5G environments, Israel's constitutional and security crisis, and the impact of AI on newsrooms worldwide.
