TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Independent presidential candidate Terry Gou warned that Taiwan could risk missing the next "golden 30 years" if it chooses political ideologies over addressing vital industry issues in a late-night Facebook post on Thursday (Oct. 26).

Terry Gou, also known as the founder of Foxconn, faces challenges as he makes the final sprint in his bid for Taiwan's presidency.

Gou is confronted with issues ranging from petition challenges, collaboration between the Kuomintang (KMT) and Taiwan People's Party (TPP), poor poll ratings, to the recent tax probe into Foxconn operations by Chinese authorities, leaving Gou's prospects in the upcoming election hanging in the balance.

Gou appealed to voters for support in a Facebook post where he noted that AI is poised to revolutionize work patterns, ushering in irreversible changes in education, production, and employment. However, Taiwan must prepare for such change due to problems like low wages, high housing prices, and energy shortages.

Gou left an earnest message:

"If you believe in Taiwan's potential to exceed its current state, please come forward to support my election campaign. Together, we can build a future marked by economic success."
