TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The northeast monsoon and rain from southern China on Saturday (Oct. 28) brought ample cloud coverage and sporadic showers in some areas in Taiwan, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said.

Northern Taiwan had lower temperatures, hovering between 20-22 degrees Celsius for the lows and 23-25 degrees for the highs. Other regions saw temperatures ranging from 21-24 degrees, with Hualien and Taitung's highs at 24-26 degrees and central and southern areas reaching 27-29 degrees.

The lowest temperature of 16.8 degrees was recorded on the Matsu Islands, while Qidu District, Keelung City, and Guanxi Township, Hsinchu County main island recorded lows of 19.2 and 19.5 degrees, respectively.

Despite decreasing humidity levels, the cool weather in the northern and northeastern regions is forecasted to persist through Sunday and Monday due to the northeast monsoon.

Temperatures are expected to rise gradually from next Tuesday to Thursday, with less rain, mainly in the north and east and persisting in the Hengchun Peninsula.

Next Friday to Sunday, cloudy to sunny conditions are expected across Taiwan, with isolated showers at night in eastern regions and along Keelung's north coast.
