TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) announced on Tuesday (Oct. 31) that starting Nov. 1, it will no longer require mandatory health declarations from travelers entering or departing China.

However, they are still required to report their health status to customs and cooperate with sanitary inspections, according to the GACC.

In response, the Tourism Department of the Kinmen County Government welcomed the gradual opening of the policy, expressing expectations that cross-strait interactions can resume under normal conditions in the post-pandemic era.

With increased travel since the "small three links" (小三通) were resumed on Jan. 7, the policy change aims to alleviate congestion issues and the cumbersome nature of the health declaration procedure experienced by many Kinmen residents.
