TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Eight new regulations covering sectors in healthcare, public transport, and the environment are taking effect in Taiwan in November.

From Wednesday (Nov. 1) onwards, the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) is introducing sustainable deals, including a NT$5 discount on hot beverages to passengers who bring their reusable cups.

The Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (TDC) announced that state-funded flu vaccines will be available for individuals aged 50 to 64. In contrast, those aged 65 and over can take shots in the second phase of the pneumococcal vaccine program, which prevents cases like pneumonia and sepsis.

Also, all newborns will officially enroll in the nationwide "Project of Holistic Physicians for Young Children," an initiative that the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) takes to ensure each newborn gets a designated healthcare specialist to monitor developmental delays, administer immunizations, and provide fluoride treatments.

In a bid to garner the golden time for saving stroke patients, the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) has decided to extend the operating hours for thrombectomy procedures so patients who either live alone or reside in rural areas can receive immediate medical support.
