TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The New Taipei City Police Department revealed Thursday (Nov. 2) that in a 10-day operation to prevent gang involvement in the upcoming elections, they have uncovered 42 cases related to gang activity and fraud, with a total of 180 people brought to justice.

The New Taipei City Police Department initiated a stringent surveillance operation targeting criminal organizations like the Bamboo Union on Oct. 23.

According to the New Taipei City Police Department, they arrested 73 members across 12 gang branches, including the Bamboo Union, during this special operation.

Additionally, they uncovered 30 instances involving fraud syndicates, arrested 107 people, and seized five modified firearms. The total illicit earnings confiscated amounted to over NT$10.23 million.

With elections heating up, the New Taipei City Police Department stated that it is fully committed to maintaining order. They said they have zero tolerance for election gambling or incidents of violence that could potentially disrupt the election.

The authorities will continue to execute specialized operations, systematically targeting and cracking down on gang organizations, illegal firearms, drugs, and gambling crimes.
