TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Fifteen regional leaders of the Kuomintang (KMT) collectively petitioned for their party to collaborate with the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) on Saturday (Nov. 4), urging an efficient formation of teams for the 2024 elections.

The document was signed personally by the fifteen local KMT officials expressing their full-fledged support for one of the two proposals put forward by KMT Chairman Eric Chu to further collaboration between the KMT and the TPP.

The petition indicated that regardless of whether the proposal is set upon the Japanese or German model, as long as the KMT is victorious, the presidential and vice presidential candidates would be Hou Yu-ih and Ko Wen-je, respectively.

However, if the TPP wins, it will be a pairing of Ko and Hou, thereby completing the rotation of political power from the current Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to the opposition.

These two systems, whether modeled after Japan or Germany, are determined by comparative polls commonly used by political parties and media, emphasizing transparency, fairness, and justice.

The KMT stated that more than 60 percent of the population desires a rotation of political power, adding that the KMT aims to achieve democratic reform in Taiwan through the KMT-TPP collaboration to avoid the democratic dictatorship of a single dominant party.
