TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Weather conditions across Taiwan stabilized on Sunday (Nov. 5), with brief showers in the eastern part of the country and on the Hengchun Peninsula.

Morning temperatures nationwide ranged from 20 to 23 degrees Celsius, with afternoon highs in the western half reaching up to 32 degrees and 29-30 degrees in the eastern half. The notable temperature difference between day and night calls for appropriate clothing adjustments.

Meteorological expert Wu Teh-jung noted that heavy fog in Mazu on Sunday morning reduced visibility to less than 200 meters.

According to the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) simulation, Sunday continued to be influenced by the Indian Summer, with clear skies and temperatures peaking between 33-35 degrees and dipping to 18-19 degrees.

The ECMWF model also predicts a southward-moving northeast monsoon on Nov. 7, which will bring significant precipitation to Taipei and eastern regions but have minimal impact on areas south of Taoyuan.

The model indicates that the monsoon will weaken between Nov. 8 and 10, with better weather conditions expected, including partly sunny skies throughout Taiwan and occasional brief showers in the eastern half.

The model predicts the arrival of a larger northeast monsoon wave starting in the evening of Nov. 10. This wave, the strongest this autumn, may last for over four days.
