TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A ceremony to mark the completing of the Anwei No. 8 field exercise will be held on Thursday (Nov. 9), according to a top government official. The event will feature a realistic display of the achievements of the 220 specialized task force officers who undertook skill and expertise training in light of the upcoming presidential election.

National Security Bureau (NSB) Director-General Tsai Ming-yen explained on Tuesday that the field exercise was part of the protective missions enforced to ensure the safety of all presidential and vice-presidential candidates before the January election. Led by the NSB, the Anwei No. 8 shows national resolve in taking control measures, tackling emergencies, and enhancing national security.

General Tsai affirmed in an interview at the Legislative Yuan earlier that day that the ceremony serves as an opportunity to showcase to the public what the NSB has prepared before the forthcoming election. This includes newly procured equipment, gear, and vehicles alongside intensive field training of the specialized tasked force when unexpected situations arise.

The NSB addressed its goal for the officers to achieve three objectives during training so all missions could lead to successful results. With 220 officers comprised of personnel from city and county police departments, as well as the military, NSB confirmed the completion of all training and military simulations; the upcoming ceremony will see their performance open for public view.
