TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The northeastern monsoon's weakening grip on Wednesday (Nov. 15) has brought a slight temperature rise in northern Taiwan, with readings generally staying above 17 degrees Celsius, a welcome change from the recent cooler weather.

The lowest temperature recorded in the country on Wednesday morning was 16.7 degrees in Huwei, Yunlin County. As the monsoon shifts to an easterly wind, regions in the North and Northeast, as well as the Eastern half of Taiwan, are expected to experience considerable cloudiness and local, short-lived showers, particularly in the Northeast.

In contrast, the Western half of the region is seeing improved weather conditions, characterized by sunny to partly cloudy skies due to reduced moisture.

Meteorologists predict that a frontal system arriving on Thursday will gradually increase cloud cover in central and northern areas. Rain is expected north of Taichung and in the eastern half of the country, especially in mountainous regions.

Following the front's passage, a southbound Northeast monsoon is likely to bring drier and cooler air. Urban areas can anticipate temperatures dropping to 16-18 degrees, with suburban areas possibly experiencing 2-3 degrees lower at night.

Friday is expected to remain dry and chilly, with northern Taiwan seeing high temperatures barely reaching 18-19 degrees. Central areas will likely experience 22-24 degrees, southern regions 25-26 degrees, and Hualien and Taitung slightly overcast at 21-22 degrees.

This weather pattern is forecasted to remain stable through the following Wednesday, providing Taiwan with a consistent and reliable forecast.
