TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Broadcasting Corporation of China Chairman Chao Shao-kang, on Thursday (Nov. 16), urged Terry Gou, independent presidential candidate and founder of Foxconn, to reassess his running for election following the consensus reached yesterday between the Kuomintang (KMT) and Taiwan People's Party (TPP).

He stressed that Gou has already demonstrated his capabilities and surpassed the threshold for nominations.

Chao added that Gou once pronounced his election bid aimed to boost the KMT-TPP coalition, suggesting it is time for him to step back.

TPP presidential candidate Ko Wen-je may have earlier considered an alliance with Gou if negotiations with the KMT became problematic. Still, now that the coalition has formed, only technicalities remain, with no significant change anticipated.

Chao also cautioned the coalition not to exclude Gou, indicating that his influence should be integrated.

He stated that while the collaboration was beneficial, they must remember that Gou remains an active contender.

Chao warned that failing to do so could pose serious problems should Gou continue his presidential run.

The chairman expressed confidence that Gou would not secure a win in the election and hoped Gou would withdraw from the race.

He further insisted that persisting in the race would not benefit Gou himself and advised he must make a decision logically, not emotionally.
