TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih said on Monday (Nov. 20) that he respects whatever decision emerges from the Blue-White alliance, involving the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) presidential candidate Ko Wen-je.

Earlier that day, Hou attended an event at the Puzi Peitian Temple in Chiayi County alongside Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Legislator Tsai Yi-yu, among others.

Ko declared his intention to continue his presidential bid for the TPP the previous day. When local media asked Hou to comment on Ko's stance and his meeting with independent candidate Terry Gou, Hou refrained from commenting.

Responding to a query about a statement from a campaign spokesperson for DPP's Lai Ching-te, who claimed that China reportedly has no plans to invade Taiwan in 2027 or 2030, Hou questioned whether Lai's team now trusts Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Hou referenced Presidential Office spokesman Alex Huang's previous statements emphasizing the need for Xi to demonstrate peaceful intentions through actions. Noting the continued activity of Chinese warplanes, Hou argued that these actions contradict Lai's spokesperson's statement.

Hou advocated for sincere dialogue to minimize risks and restart cross-strait interactions, emphasizing that Taiwan should fortify its own defense capabilities instead of relying on external support.
