TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Following her confirmation on Friday (Nov. 24) as Taiwan People's Party (TPP) presidential candidate Ko Wen-je's vice presidential, Cynthia Wu stated her global perspective and financial expertise would contribute significantly to their party's election campaign.

As the granddaughter of Shin Kong Group founder Wu Ho-su, Wu is recognized for her stringent time management, often likened to accomplishing "three day's work in one day."

Wu's upbringing in a family with diplomatic ties, including her father Eugene Wu's role as ambassador-at-large, provided her with substantial international exposure, including an encounter with former U.S. President Bill Clinton.

Her maternal grandfather Hsu Sheng-fa, a former legislator, was also involved in the promotion of the Taiwan Relations Act, and her uncle Eric Wu was a former legislator.

The family holds a relationship with former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao.

While serving as a legislator, Cynthia Wu frequently accompanied Legislative Yuan Speaker You Si-kun in receiving foreign guests and handled international diplomatic issues for the TPP.

Her advocacy work alongside Ko in the U.S. propelled business and unofficial talks. She proposed the inclusion of Taiwan in the "Santiago Principles" through the "Taiwan Sovereign Wealth Fund," a concept that intrigued U.S. officials.
