TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a historic first for Taiwan's presidential elections, the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) has positioned its campaign manager Vivian Huang, as the top non-constituency legislator-at-large candidate, a milestone that has never been seen before in the island's political contests.

Amid internal concerns over a potential conflict of interest due to her dual roles, Huang's prominent placement on the party list has raised some eyebrows about the fairness of her holding the power to nominate while also being a player in the election game.

Legislator Chuang Jui-hsiung of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) highlighted that Huang's significant appointment underscores not only her close rapport with TPP's presidential candidate Ko Wen-je but also her in-depth understanding of the Kuomintang's (KMT) campaign strategies.

Chuang analyzed that the role of a campaign manager often reflects the level of trust a candidate has in them. In Huang's case, it manifests the high level of trust and authority Ko places in her.

Having previously engaged with the KMT, Huang's intimate knowledge of the opposition's tactics positions her to preemptively contest any strategic moves, including challenging anticipated polls that might inflate the popularity of rival KMT candidates like Hou Yu-ih.

As presidential candidacies were solidified yesterday with the registration cutoff, all attention has turned towards the election strategies of the major parties—KMT, DPP, and TPP—with Huang's multiple duties generating particular scrutiny.

Huang's readiness to counteract such tactics reveals the intensifying nature of Taiwan's elections as parties brace themselves for a fierce battle ahead, where strategic alliances and poll maneuvers could very well tip the scales.
