TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party (TPP) spokesperson Tai Yu-wen revealed on Wednesday, Nov. 29, that the individual who allegedly offered TPP's Ko Wen-je US$200 million to become a vice-presidential running mate was introduced through an intermediary.

This person, said Tai, was specifically identified with a name, calling cards, and communication records. "The Kuomintang (KMT) is very clear about the content and source of this offer," Tai stated.

This announcement follows Ko's recent claim of receiving a substantial offer for the vice-presidential position, with sources suggesting the individual is affiliated with the KMT.

Tai accused the KMT of insincerity in its negotiations to unite opposition parties, alleging the use of lucrative offers and public coercion as tactics. He described the KMT's methods as double-dealing, involving various informants, intermediaries, and lobbying efforts, and said these maneuvers are apparent to all.

Despite these allegations, Tai stressed that the TPP is now focused on the future. The party is concentrating on proposing policies, setting goals, and seeking voter approval in an effort to establish a third political path in Taiwan.
