SEOUL (TVBS News) – Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun was found dead in his car by authorities on Wednesday (Dec. 27) in an apparent suicide via charcoal burning, according to local police. Since the actor's demise, the drug-related investigation connected to him is expected to come to a halt.
Lee had gone missing the previous night, with his manager reporting his disappearance the following morning. It took authorities only 18 minutes to locate Lee following the report, using cell phone targeting. Just before his disappearance, Lee had left behind a letter for his wife, South Korean actress Jeon Hye-jin.
In October, Lee was linked to a drug issue. All drug tests, however, came back negative. The entirety of the investigation rested solely on the testimony of a hostess, an unfortunate turn of events ultimately ending in tragedy.
Lee's death has resulted in the loss of the prosecutor's authority to further investigate the case. Consequently, the police will entirely halt the investigation.
