NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A preliminary autopsy on a male student stabbed to death by a schoolmate in New Taipei City revealed he had suffered 10 wounds, each potentially lethal, according to medical examiners on Wednesday (Dec. 27).

The post-mortem examination, conducted around 10 a.m., found the student had knife wounds in his neck, left chest, and right lower back. Six slashes were in the front, including one to his carotid artery, and four were near his kidney.

Authorities believe the fatal attack stemmed from a verbal altercation on Monday when a female student had entered the victim's classroom to find her friend and was questioned by the victim about her presence.

She left, unhappy, and brought back a male student from her grade to settle the dispute. The latter attacked the victim with a switchblade, stabbing him five times and causing extensive bleeding.

The victim was rushed to the Far Eastern Memorial Hospital after the attack in Tucheng District and received extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment for five hours.

However, 34 hours after the incident, the victim was pronounced dead on Tuesday.

According to the statement from the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office, the assailant may be investigated for homicide or manslaughter based on the autopsy results and evidence from the scene.
