TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The 2024 presidential election's sole live televised debate is scheduled for 2 pm on Saturday (Dec. 30). Participants include Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Lai Ching-te, Kuomintang (KMT) candidate Hou Yu-ih, and Taiwan's People Party (TPP) candidate Ko Wen-je.

The debate comprises four rounds: candidate speeches, media inquiries, inter-candidate questioning, and conclusions. The speaking order, determined randomly, starts with Lai, followed by Hou, and then Ko.

Lai highlighted the KMT-TPP joint ticket's shortcomings and urged viewers to support him. Hou's campaign office stated that he has prepared extensively for this debate over the past month, aiming to convey his election concepts, political views, and vision for public endorsement.

In a media interview, Ko expressed his desire to question Lai on promoting Taiwan's independence without U.S. government backing during the debate.

The event, co-hosted by Liberty Times Net (LTN) and 10 other media outlets, will be broadcast on Public Television Service (PTS) and moderated by PTS Chairperson Hu Yuan-hui.
