TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih outlined the ruling Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) ten major policy failures in a livestream presidential debate on Saturday (Dec. 30).

Hou criticized the DPP's eight-year performance, citing ineffective energy policies, food safety violations, public security deterioration, debt burden on future generations, and issues like water shortages and power outages affecting people's livelihoods.

He also highlighted concerns like "autocratic rule," housing injustice, cross-strait military threats, falling wages, soaring house prices, and pandemic responses.

Hou detailed these failures, including solar power corruption, food black markets, a surge in scam cases, overspending on infrastructure, electricity and water shortages, NCC regulatory failures, social housing issues, military conflict potential, income inequality, and COVID-19 deaths.

Hou criticized DPP candidate Lai Ching-te for slanderous campaign tactics, expressing regret over such behavior. He affirmed his opposition to Taiwanese independence while accusing Lai of advocating for it.

Regarding Taiwan People's Party (TPP) candidate Ko Wen-je, Hou noted his silence on the issue and pledged loyalty to the Republic of China's flag and Taiwan's democratic freedom.
