TAIPEI (TVBS News) — With just 10 days until Taiwan’s presidential election, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Lai Ching-te tried to drum up vote early Wednesday (Jan. 3), by greeting morning commuters at the traffic intersection by Taipei Dome a tactical echo of President Tsai Ing-wen's bid from four years ago in the same location.

The DPP has begun a nationwide "Stand Up For Virtue, Guard Taiwan with Three Votes" campaign, soliciting votes at over 1,000 intersections across Taiwan.

Meanwhile, DPP vice presidential candidate Hsiao Bi-khim was also campaigning at a street junction in the Banqiao district of New Taipei City.

Lai has put out a call at 22 municipalities and 817 traffic intersections across Taiwan to mobilize citizens, inviting them to vote for the DPP.

The presidential hopeful stressed that he, along with Hsiao, are candidates who can continue Tsai Ing-wen's political course and guide Taiwan forward.

Lai emphasized that if they are successfully elected into office, without a majority in the legislative yuan, the nation won't be able to advance smoothly.

Therefore, he also urged citizens' support for him, Hsiao, and the DPP's recommended high-quality legislative candidates.
