TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A new winter ice cream flavor, featuring a fusion of vanilla and Sichuan peppercorn oil, is set to hit the shelves through a collaboration between a convenience chain and a renowned spicy hotpot restaurant.

Early tasters have described the flavor as sweet and pleasantly numbing, rather than intensely spicy.

 

With winter ice cream sales exceeding a million units, equivalent to summer sales, according to convenience store operators, the introduction of a co-branded ice cream could potentially lead to a significant growth boost due to its topical appeal.

The primary consumer base for these winter ice creams falls within the over-40 age group.

Ice cream offerings in convenience stores tend to vary between seasons, with winter flavors emphasizing richness and summer options focusing on refreshment.
 

In addition, one convenience store brand reported a remarkable 40% increase in average single-store performance by introducing co-branded ice cream products during the winter months compared to summer.

Another noteworthy limited edition winter treat includes a Belgian dark chocolate ice cream boasting 55% chocolate content, presented by a furniture store chain. Meanwhile, a U.S. ice cream chain has unveiled a special winter-exclusive strawberry ice cream.

The promotion of ice cream during the winter season has created unique business opportunities, challenging traditional perceptions of ice cream as a summer-only delight.
