YUNLIN (TVBS News) — During the post-election gratitude tea ceremony held by Kuomintang (KMT) in Yunlin County on Monday (Jan. 21), Chairman Eric Chu emphasized the party's reform strategies and expressed growth plans aimed specifically at nurturing young members for political roles.

Chu, alongside New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih and Yunlin County Commissioner Chang Li-shan, declared the party's commitment to amplifying its engagement with social and web media. This strategy, according to Chu, will form an integral part of KMT's attempt to appeal to younger voters.

He also underlined the party's achievement in the recent legislative elections, where 10 out of 15 KMT candidates, all being under the age of 40, secured victory. This ripple effect has resulted in the KMT party caucus in the Legislative Yuan becoming the youngest among its peers.

Mayor Hou Yu-ih stressed that as the largest party group in the Legislative Yuan, the KMT caucus should focus on cultivating unity of purpose and collaboration. In particular, Hou emphasized the need to combine efforts with proportional representation legislators from the south to meet its specific needs and earn the trust of its residents.

Hou motivated the KMT to break out of their echo chamber, believing the party has to present the facts, rectify misconceptions or misunderstandings, and strive to attract new voters while strengthening the support from existing ones. Over the past several years, KMT has continually nurtured young talent as part of its key structure.
