TAOYUAN (TVBS News) — ProLogium Technology, Taiwan's leading electric vehicle battery maker, unveiled the world's first giga-level solid-state lithium ceramic battery (LCB) demonstration factory in Taoyuan City on Tuesday (Jan. 23).

Vincent Yang, founder and CEO of ProLogium, announced that the initial stage will be 0.5GWh, with plans to expand to a full capacity of 2GWh, potentially supplying up to 26,000 EVs, aiming to become the world's largest solid-state battery provider by 2030 or 2032.

ProLogium showcased its advanced manufacturing technology and explained how the revolutionary battery structure enhances scalability and commercial viability during a production line tour.

Yang also shared that the battery materials are sourced from Europe, the United States, Japan, and South Korea, highlighting the supply chain is “patented and well-rounded.”

Yang emphasized the factory's significance as a bridge between Taiwanese and French industries, highlighting their 17 years of work in Taiwan. He also provided updates on their overseas gigafactory in Dunkirk, France, where mass production is expected to start in 2027.

ProLogium has invested 5.2 billion euros in the Dunkirk factory, aiming to establish a 48 GWh gigafactory and a localized value chain while maintaining its presence in Taiwan.

Franck Paris, the director of the French Office in Taipei, confirmed their commitment to the project's timeline, highlighting opportunities for economic links between France and Taiwan, particularly in renewable energy and space industries.

As ProLogium advances its LCB development, it has earned a place on Nikkei Asia's list of top 12 Asian companies to watch in 2024.
