NANTOU (TVBS News) — A stunning view was on full display as Mount Hehuan recorded a snow accumulation of 10 centimeters in early Wednesday (Jan. 24) morning. With clear skies and a beautifully sunny day, the picturesque scene attracted many eyes.

Despite the bright and sunny weather, the snow on the mountain didn't melt owing to its high altitude and low temperatures. The allure of the snow-filled landscape lured many enthusiasts to ascend the mount, enjoying the beauty of the ice pellets falling with the snow.

The recent cold spell hailing from the mainland had caused temperatures to plummet, effectively creating a chilling blanket across Taiwan. The snowfall on Mount Hehuan began early Tuesday, around 3 a.m., as the temperature continued to drop.

The Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency of Nantou Branch advised those planning to go up the snowy mountain to use four-wheel-drive vehicles with snow chains for safety. The agency also reminded the mountain visitors to keep warm and properly equipped against the cold.

For those who want to move a step ahead and plan to go mountain climbing during winter, the agency counseled carrying the "three gems of the snow season:" crampons, ice axes (or trekking poles), and helmets, along with sufficient warm clothing.
