Taiwan to enjoy spring-like warmth with rising temperatures

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Temperatures across Taiwan will gradually rise from Monday through Thursday, with daytime warmth set to hit 30 degrees Celsius in southern parts of the island and offer a spring-like feel, Meteorologist Wu Der-rong said on Monday (Jan. 29).

Despite welcoming highs of 25 degrees in the island's north during the daytime hours, early mornings and evenings will remain cooler, Wu warned.

Northern regions can expect temperatures of 12 to 22 degrees on Monday, while central parts will range from 12 to 25. Southern areas will hover between 13 to 27 degrees, and the weather in the east will be 13 to 25 degrees.

According to Wu, from Tuesday onward, there will be a change in wind direction from east-northeast to southeast. While this will bring stable sunny weather to the western half of Taiwan, it may cause occasional brief showers in the east.

Wu predicts a small northeast wind could bring brief, localized rain to the north coast and eastern parts on Friday, causing a slight drop in temperature for northern Taiwan.

Saturday and Sunday will once again offer spring-like temperatures during the day and cooler ones at night, Wu said. Weather in the western half will be sunny and stable, while the east may experience further brief showers.

He cautioned that at this stage, further adjustments are being made to modeling simulations to determine the timing and intensity of the next cold snap.
