TAIPEI (TVBS News) — With the inauguration of the new legislature fast approaching on February 1, the political scene in Taipei is buzzing with anticipation.

Taiwan People's Party (TPP) Chairman Ko Wen-je is playing his strategy close to the vest, not yet revealing his choices for the top legislative positions.

"At 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, the TPP caucus will reveal who we will endorse," Ko stated, setting the stage for a significant announcement that could shape the legislative landscape.

Strategic Silence

This Monday was marked by intense negotiations at the TPP caucus headquarters.

Nominees from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and the Kuomintang (KMT), recognizing the importance of the TPP's eight seats, sought to sway the emerging party to their side.

"We have not ruled out either pushing for our own candidates or endorsing candidates from other parties," said Christina Yang, spokesperson for the TPP.

The statement indicates a wide-open field, with the TPP keeping its options open and the other parties on edge.

Despite the high stakes and the flurry of meetings, the TPP's legislators-elect kept a tight lid on the content of the discussions.

As the political landscape hangs in the balance, the power to tip the scales rests with the TPP.

With Ko's significant influence in the legislature, the anticipation for the TPP's decision is palpable.

Both the DPP and KMT are in a holding pattern, awaiting the final word from the TPP, which is set to come tomorrow, potentially altering the power dynamics within Taiwan's legislature.
