TAOYUAN (TVBS News) — The Taoyuan International Airport Corporation announced Wednesday that it is set to manage about 1.16 million travelers during the nine-day Lunar New Year holiday.

To avoid delays at security checkpoints, the airport urged passengers to arrive three hours early. Liu Hsiao-ping, director of the business department, told TVBS News that Terminals 1 and 2 often face congestion due to the packed flight schedules.

This year, Terminal 1 will fully operate eight security checkpoints, while Terminal 2 will have 11, plus one for staff. This marks the first time since the pandemic that the airport's inspection capability has fully resumed. The busiest days, expected to see over 130,000 daily passengers, are between Feb. 8-11 and Feb. 13, nearing a 90% return to the pre-pandemic daily average of 142,000.

The Civil Aeronautics Administration has authorized 210 extra flights for the holiday. The busiest day, New Year's Eve, will accommodate 39 additional flights, bringing in an estimated 7,142 extra passengers.
