TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Tsai Ing-wen extended her congratulations and expectations to Kuomintang (KMT) legislators Han Kuo-yu and Johnny Chiang, who were elected as the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Yuan on Thursday (Feb. 1).

The president commented during the inauguration of the 11th session of the Legislative Yuan on the day, hoping for constructive communication and rational oversight that will continue to advance laws and budgets beneficial to the people.

Han and Chiang have officially secured their roles as Speaker and Deputy Speaker after elected legislators were sworn in, and their confirmation signals a change in Legislative leadership, as outgoing Speaker You Si-kun and Deputy Speaker Tsai Chi-chang leave their posts.

In a Facebook post, President Tsai expressed her gratitude to You and Tsai Chi-chang for their service, particularly emphasizing You's contributions to the process of legislation and diplomatic efforts abroad on behalf of the Legislative Yuan.

President Tsai's closing sentiments were of hope for the incoming session of the Legislative Yuan to transcend party lines, insisting on constructive communication, rational oversight, and continued promotion of policies and budgets favorable to the nation and beneficial to its people.
