TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Civil Aeronautics Administration confirmed Thursday (Feb. 15) that a pregnant woman has given birth on an EVA Air flight, which subsequently made a successful landing. Both the mother and the newborn have been admitted to the hospital.

According to the air company, the expectant mother delivered a healthy baby boy onboard the flight from Tokyo International Airport at Haneda to Taipei Songshan Airport, assisted by four passenger doctors and all flight attendants.

Songshan Airport prioritized the flight’s landing. The plane touched down at the airport shortly after 1 p.m.

EVA Air's official site holds information about pregnant passengers, stipulating that "an expectant mother with an uncomplicated single pregnancy up to 36 weeks of pregnancy" or "an expectant mother with an uncomplicated multiple pregnancy up to 32 weeks" is not allowed to fly.

Additionally, pregnant women falling between 28 weeks to 35 weeks and six days of pregnancy should complete a medical information sheet (MEDIF), approved by the company’s doctor before they can fly.

The same regulations apply to return flights for pregnant passengers.
