TAINAN (TVBS News) — The Anping Art Light District in Tainan, a highlight of the 2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival, has attracted over 3 million visitors during the Lunar New Year period. Even during the first weekend following the New Year, significant traffic continued to flow into the district.

According to a press release from the Tainan City Government on Sunday (Feb. 18), Anping served as Taiwan's gateway to the world in 1624. Now, 400 years later, Anping serves as the heart of the 2024 festivities. Visitors to the Art Light District can appreciate 30 unique light installations juxtaposed against the area's historical backdrop, enjoying elements of sea breeze, humanities, and history.

Despite substantial crowds, the city management team adeptly met demand. Visitors praised the festival's facilities on social media, commending the sufficient restroom facilities, cleanliness maintained by sanitation workers, and well-planned spatial arrangement.

Aerial performances will be held in the Anping Art Light District every Saturday and Sunday at 7:45 p.m. until March 10. Each performance will last for 12 minutes, offering residents and tourists a chance to partake in the festival vibe.

The centerpiece of the Taiwan Lantern Festival, the "Dragon Comes to Taiwan," is set to light up Tainan's High-Speed Rail Light District on Feb. 24. Currently, over 300 light installations are being assembled and tested.
