TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A weather front gradually passing over Taiwan is set to cause a modest dip in temperatures on Monday (March 11), as northeast monsoons and cold weather front from the continent move in, forecasters reported.

The passage of the front system has significantly increased humidity across Taiwan, raising the possibility of brief, localized showers. The system is expected to destabilize the weather, particularly bringing a strong likelihood of heavy rain in central regions northward and in the mountains.

Meteorologist Lin De-en predicts the rainfall will ease or stop by Tuesday morning, after which the temperatures across Taiwan will temporarily drop further, especially at night.

Particularly cold conditions are anticipated in northern Taiwan and the northeast, with predicted lows of around 14 to 15 degrees Celsius. Elsewhere, lows will hover between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius. Those in the region are advised to dress warmly due to the significant temperature difference between day and night.

Daytime highs are expected to be around 19 to 22 degrees in the north, northeast, and east, and 23 to 25 degrees in the southeast and south.

Due to increased humidity following the front system, local short spells of rain are likely, so residents are urged to carry rain gear.

Above 3,500 meters in central areas northward, there's a chance of sporadic hail or snowfall if humidity and low temperatures align. Mountain roads may freeze, which demands special attention.
