NEW DELHI (TVBS News) — The Deputy Representative to India, Chen Mu-min, stated on Monday (April 29) that India's improving political standing would benefit Taiwan's greater involvement in international affairs.
Chen believes India's growing influence in international politics is evident, with most countries having embassies in Delhi. Numerous international conferences and summits are hosted in India, also home to significant international organizations with their headquarters.
Throughout his stay in India, the deputy representative has made a concerted effort to build contacts in the academic and think tank communities. He has given talks introducing Taiwan and visited between 20 and 30 universities and research facilities.
Chen anticipates that Taiwan-India relations will continue to grow steadily, particularly in trade, investment, education, and technology.
He has observed a significant increase in Taiwan-Indian connections in education during the last several years. An increasing number of Taiwan Education centers are opening up in India each year, and more Indian researchers and students are visiting Taiwan.
Regarding the economy, the deputy representative thinks that the reorganization of the global supply chain has made Taiwanese manufacturing more inclined to relocate to India. There will be more Taiwanese manufacturers in India due to the country's growing population and better infrastructure, which will gradually raise trade volume.
