TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Executive Yuan spokesperson Chen Shi-kai (陳世凱) clarified on Thursday (June 6) that while there are no new projects with NVIDIA, ongoing collaborations will continue.

This statement came after NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) revealed plans on Wednesday to increase investments in Taiwan, with a potential AI supercomputer center in Kaohsiung and an R&D center near Taipei.

Continued Collaboration and Investment
Chen emphasized the government's support for foreign investment, including cross-ministerial infrastructure support such as water and electricity. He reiterated that although no new plans with NVIDIA exist, existing projects will proceed, boosting Taiwan's research and development talent.

Chen's comments underscore the government's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for technological advancements and foreign investment.

Respecting Business Decisions
Regarding NVIDIA's interest in investing in specific cities, Chen stated the government respects the company's commercial freedom and is pleased to see cities actively seeking investment. This approach highlights Taiwan's openness to business initiatives and its readiness to welcome significant technological investments that can contribute to the local economy and innovation landscape.

As Taiwan continues to be a hub for technological innovation, the ongoing partnership with NVIDIA signifies the island's strategic importance in the global tech industry. The government's supportive stance may encourage further foreign investments, strengthening Taiwan's position as a leader in technology and research.
