Taipei police to deploy 500 officers for rally on Friday

TAIPEI (TVBS News)—The Legislative Yuan will vote on the Executive Yuan's request to review the recently passed legislative reform bills on Friday (June 21). Outside, the "Bluebird Movement" and "Blue Eagle Movement" plan to show their support. The Taipei City Police Department stated on Thursday (June 20) that it expected to deploy 500 officers to maintain order.

Public Returns to Legislative Yuan

Since June 19, several civic groups have returned to the vicinity of the Legislative Yuan, an act many see as the resurgence of the Bluebird Movement. The Kuomintang caucus has also applied for road rights around the Legislative Yuan for June 21, intending to rally its supporters on-site.

Police Measures to Avoid Clashes
To separate the two groups of supporters and prevent conflicts, the police will deploy four sub-bureaus and 500 officers around the Legislative Yuan. Barriers will be set up, and access to certain areas will be controlled.

Chang Chia-huang (張嘉煌), the chief of the Zhongzheng First Precinct, reminded those attending the rally to remain peaceful and rational, respect each other's freedom of speech, and avoid provoking each other. He stated that if there are any illegal or disorderly actions, the police will strictly enforce the law to ensure the smooth progress of the rally and the crowd's safety.
