TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A spokesperson for China's Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO) on Wednesday vehemently (June 26) denied a report by Liberty Times (自由時報) that alleged Xinhua News Agency reporters in Taiwan were influencing Taiwanese political talk shows to meet TAO standards. Zhu Fenglian (朱鳳蓮) dismissed the accusations as "fake news" and fabrications. She accused the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) of using the report to propagate "green terror," misleading Taiwanese citizens and maligning China.
Zhu argued that the DPP is manipulating media to foster divisions within Taiwan and heighten cross-strait tensions, portraying them as engaging in cognitive warfare against the Taiwanese populace. She criticized the DPP's treatment of media outlets that offer differing viewpoints, claiming it created a climate of intimidation and censorship dubbed "green terror." Zhu called on Taiwan's residents to see through the DPP's tactics and defend their rights and interests through concrete actions. She concluded by demanding the DPP cease its actions, which she claims harm Taiwan's welfare and impede cross-strait relations.
