TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Bali Immigration Director Saffar Muhammad Godam reported on Friday (June 28) that 103 Taiwanese nationals were arrested in a local villa for alleged cybercrime activities.

Visa Misuse and Cybercrime Allegations

Godam stated that the individuals were abusing visa and residential permits, and they were suspected of engaging in cybercrime.

The Bali Immigration Bureau (印尼峇里島移民局) arrested the Taiwanese nationals in a villa on June 26.

An initial investigation revealed 14 Taiwanese people involved, but after a day of investigation, it was discovered that all were Taiwanese.

The individuals are suspected of cybercrime and violating immigration regulations, and authorities stated they would soon be deported. Godam pointed out that although their activities were in Indonesia, the victims were in other countries, making it difficult to make a criminal judgment against them.

Seized Items and Ongoing Investigation
Authorities seized multiple computers and mobile phones at the arrest location. Among the 103 arrested, there were 91 men and 12 women, all currently detained at a detention center in Bali. Authorities are investigating whether the organization might have connections to international crime groups.

The 103 individuals are suspected of not having legal documents and abusing immigration permits. Indonesian authorities are planning a joint operation to ensure that foreigners in Bali have legal and proper documents during their stay.
