NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News)—The New Taipei City Government's Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention Center has launched a new Program aimed at providing education and counseling for families under supervision and in-home parenting empowerment services for families with children under six.

Hsu Chih-chi, the center's director, stated that the initiative will serve approximately 2,000 cases annually and address the need for guidance in parenting direction.

She emphasized that the program seeks to help parents recognize their internal stress, understand their children's behaviors, and discuss parenting directions.

This initiative comes in response to the increasing number of child protection reports in New Taipei City. According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, there were 8,264 cases in 2023, 1,150 of which involved children under six, accounting for 13.9% of the total.

The program's introduction is particularly timely, given that a significant proportion of these reports stem from parents reacting emotionally to their children's risky behaviors, fearing harm to the child or others, and resorting to scolding or physical punishment.

Hsu highlighted the importance of relaxation for parents. She hopes that by offering parenting consultations, lectures, and parent-child activities, we can help parents in need alleviate emotional stress and reduce the burden of family care.
