TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A WeatherRisk (天氣風險公司) analyst stated on Monday (Sept. 2) that Typhoon Yagi (摩羯) will have a limited impact on Taiwan, likely bringing increased rainfall to eastern Taiwan starting tomorrow.

Wu Sheng-yu (吳聖宇) explained that while Typhoon Yagi will not directly affect Taiwan, its outer circulation will influence the weather. He noted that today's weather will follow the pattern of localized afternoon thunderstorms in central and southern mountainous areas, with a chance of significant storms.

Wu further detailed that by tomorrow, the typhoon will move south of Taiwan and gradually turn west toward the South China Sea. The outer moisture from the typhoon, carried by easterly winds associated with high pressure, will bring brief showers to eastern regions and the Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島) over the next few days until the weekend.

In the western half of Taiwan, localized afternoon thunderstorms will continue, with coastal winds and waves expected to strengthen, particularly in southeastern Taiwan, Hengchun, and the northern Taiwan Strait. Temperatures will remain high, with the leeward western half likely to experience temperatures above 36 degrees Celsius.

Typhoon Yagi may approach Hong Kong, Macau, and the Guangdong coast between September 7 and 9. Wu urged those planning to visit these areas to stay updated on typhoon information and potential impacts.
