PARIS (TVBS News) — Deputy Minister of Education Chang Liao Wan-chien (張廖萬堅) urged the public to continue supporting Taiwan's Paralympic athletes on Sunday (Sep. 1). Taiwan's team has already secured one silver and one bronze, surpassing their performance at the previous Tokyo Paralympics.

Taekwondo athlete Xiao Xiang-wen (蕭翔文) won a bronze medal, while table tennis doubles team Tian Shiau-wen (田曉雯) and Lin Tzu-yu (林姿妤) clinched silver. Chang Liao visited France to inspect Taiwan's logistical support and cheer on the athletes in person.

This year's Paralympics, modeled after the Olympics, saw the Sports Administration (體育署) guide the Chinese Taipei Paralympic Committee (中華帕拉林匹克總會) and the National Sports Training Center (NSTC, 國訓中心) in setting up facilities outside the athlete village. These include a physical therapy center, a sports center, and dining apartments offering home-style meals.

Chang Liao also met with International Paralympic Committee (IPC, 國際帕拉林匹克委員會) President Andrew Parsons to discuss strengthening international sports cooperation.

He encouraged athletes who have not yet medaled, such as javelin thrower Liu Ya-ting (劉雅婷), to continue their rehabilitation and strive for their best performances this season.

Badminton player Hu Guang-chiou (胡光秋) advanced to the women's singles WH1 quarterfinals, and Chang Liao urged the public to keep following the events and support the Paralympians.
