NEW YORK (TVBS News) — Taiwanese tennis player Chan Hao-ching (詹皓晴) and her Russian partner Veronika Kudermetova advanced to the US Open women's doubles semifinals on Wednesday (Sept. 4). They defeated the Canadian and New Zealand duo, overcoming a challenging match.

Chan and Kudermetova faced defending champions Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada and Erin Routliffe of New Zealand in the quarterfinals. The pair struggled initially, losing the first set 4-6, but leveled the match by winning the second set 7-5.

In the decisive third set, Chan and Kudermetova overcame another deficit, breaking their opponents' serve consecutively in the latter part to secure a 6-3 victory. The intense three-set battle lasted 2 hours and 23 minutes.

This semifinal berth marks Chan's best performance at the US Open women's doubles and achieves her milestone of reaching the semifinals in all four Grand Slam tournaments. Next, Chan and Kudermetova will compete against Ukraine's Lyudmyla Kichenok and Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko on Thursday for a spot in the final.
